Around two tons of canned pate produced by Halong Canfoco have been destroyed by authorities for containing meat that tested positive for the African swine fever virus.
The Hai Phong City Department of Fisheries, Livestock and Veterinary Services found 126 tons of pork infected with the virus at the company’s factory, the local police said Thursday.

It then ordered the company to recall all products suspected of containing the infected ingredients for destruction.
It also carried out disinfection measures at the factory to prevent the disease from spreading.
The infected pork was sourced from six individuals in the neighboring province of Hung Yen, and they were unable to provide documentation to prove the safety of the meat.
The police said Bui Duc Trong, 46, a resident of the coastal city, and eight others violated food safety regulations, buying diseased pork for half a year and using fake documents to evade quarantine measures.
Halong Canfoco has not commented on the issue. The company, established in 1957, is among Vietnam’s leading food processors, making a variety of products such as canned meat and fish and sausages.
Authorities are continuing the investigation to identify everyone involved.
