Sales on four e-commerce platforms in Vietnam, including Shopee, Lazada, Tiki and TikTok Shop, hit VND202.3 trillion (US$7.8 billion) in the first six months of this year.
Imported goods recorded sales of VND7.5 trillion with more than 164 million products sold, up nearly 7% from a year ago.
During the period, the number of sellers on these platforms fell by 6% year-on-year, reflecting a market trend that increasingly favors large sellers and actual stores.
It also showed that consumers have become stricter with their shopping as poor-quality goods are flooding digital platforms.
Smart data platform Metric expects e-commerce sales to reach VND122.8 trillion in the third quarter, while consumption output can reach about 1,236 million products, increasing by 21% in sales and 27% in output compared to the previous quarter.
The rise shows that the market’s recovery and expansion momentum continues to be maintained. The most purchased product groups are food, beverages, cosmetics, fashion, sports, home care and technology.
According to Metric’s forecast, e-commerce retail revenues can rise to more than $30 billion this year.
