A beacon of light within darkness
Amid various global upheavals, Vietnam has emerged as a beacon of resilience and adaptability. Its success hinges on a strategic blend of these two critical factors, offering a valuable model for navigating crises effectively.
Central to Vietnam’s resilience is a unified national spirit. Collaboration between the government, businesses, and the people has been the key to not only overcoming crises but also solidifying Vietnam’s increasingly prominent position on the global stage. This unity and unwavering determination have provided a solid foundation for the country to grow and adapt to challenges.
Equally significant is Vietnam’s swift adaptability. The country has effectively leveraged several free trade agreements to diversify its export markets, reducing reliance on traditional markets. Policies aimed at supporting businesses such as tax reductions, debt restructuring, and investment incentives have not only created a stable environment for businesses to continue operating but also reinforced investor confidence during turbulent times.
New dawn for Vietnam
Vietnam is now positioning itself as a rising economic star in the Asian region, as clearly depicted in the book “Vietnam – Asia’s Rising Star” by Brook Taylor and Sam Korsmoe. As the nation embraces its “awakening era,” marked by aspirations for wealth and prosperity, its economic trajectory is shaped by a blend of political stability, strategic investments, and progressive reforms.
Political stability has been the cornerstone of Vietnam’s economic transformation, fostering a secure environment that encourages both domestic and foreign investment. Strategic investments, particularly in infrastructure spanning highways, seaports, and industrial zones as well as hospitality developments have significantly improved connectivity and enhanced the country’s appeal as a global investment hub.
These efforts are further reinforced by progressive reforms, particularly the legal framework and administrative processes. While inconsistencies in implementation and procedural complexities remain, regulatory and administrative improvements have helped create favorable conditions for investors.

As Vietnam rises as an economic powerhouse, tourism emerges as a pivotal driver in its growth narrative.
Tourism is more than just an economic driver for Vietnam; it is a bridge to the world. By sharing its story, culture, and charm through tourism, Vietnam can position itself as a global tourism powerhouse, transforming its natural and cultural wealth into enduring pride and prosperity. Recent years have seen the country firmly establish its position on the global tourism map.
At the World Travel Awards 2024, often referred to as the “Oscars of the travel industry,” Vietnam surpassed major competitors from China, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand to be crowned “Asia’s leading destination.”

High-end services and resorts in Vietnam have gained international recognition. Typically, Hoiana Resort & Golf has been honored with the coveted title of “World’s Leading Fully Integrated Resort” at the World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2024.
Such recognition not only elevates Vietnam’s global status but also sparks curiosity and enthusiasm among travelers eager to explore its diverse offerings. However, Vietnam’s journey to becoming a global tourism leader requires sustained efforts to fully unlock its potential.
Diversifying tourism products must be a key focus, including distinctive experiences such as agricultural, ecological, and cultural exploration, aligning with sustainable travel trends. Furthermore, initiatives to help extend visitors’ stays and encourage higher spending should include further enhancing hospitality services and upgrading infrastructure to foster seamless connectivity.
Promising premier destination
As Vietnam enters its “awakening era,” it extends an invitation to the global community to join its journey toward shared prosperity. The nation’s ambitious vision, paired with the resilience and determination of its people, promises a future where Vietnam is not only a premier destination for direct business but also a place that feels comfortable to those who seek long-term growth and collaboration.
Having spent nearly seven years in Vietnam’s tourism industry, Steven Wolstenholme has witnessed firsthand the remarkable transformation of this country and a unique blend of tradition and modernity, where economic development goes hand in hand with preserving and promoting the nation’s rich cultural heritage.

For him, Vietnam has become much more than a workplace, it will always be a place where he feels the warmth, welcome, and a strong sense of connection with the local community. Each day spent in this incredible country has strengthened his admiration for its people and enriched his perspective, becoming a cherished foundation that Steven will carry with him as he embarks on the next chapter of his own journey.
