Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.96% to 1,415.46 points Tuesday, its third consecutive gaining session.
The index closed 13.4 points higher after rising 15.1 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, on which the index is based, was steady at VND28.29 trillion (US$1.08 billion).
The VN30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 23 tickers in the green.
VJC of budget airline Vietjet led with a 5.6% rise, followed by HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group, up 4.7%.
VHM of property giant Vinhomes rose 3% and SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation closed 2.9% higher.
Two blue chips fell. BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings and TPB of private TPBank both closed with a 1.1% decline.
Foreign investors were net buyers for the fifth session in a row to the tune of VND1.5 trillion, mainly buying HPG and FPT of tech giant FPT Corporation.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.75% while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market closed 0.34% higher.
