Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.48% to 1,229.23 points Friday.
The index closed 5.88 points higher after gaining 12.35 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 15% to VND20.350 trillion (US$782.1 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 15 tickers gained with VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup hitting the ceiling price.
VJC of budget airline Vietjet saw a 6.2% jump and VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk was up 3.6%.
Thirteen blue chips fell. SSB of SeABank went down 2.7%, STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank slid 2.6% and LPB of Fortune Vietnam Bank closed 2.1% lower.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND593 billion, mainly selling FPT of tech giant FPT Corporation and VIC.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.31%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.47%.
