High-profile South Korean actor Yoo Ah In has sold his Itaewon house in Seoul for 6.3 billion won (US$4.46 million) while serving a one-year prison sentence.
The sale, completed in November 2024, was 1.7 billion won lower than its estimated value of 8 billion won three years ago, according to a report by News 1.
Speculation has arisen that Yoo may have sold the property to raise funds for an appeal, although his representatives have not commented.

Yoo purchased the 418-square-meter property in 2016 for 5.8 billion won under his private company, UAA Company Ltd.
The property gained attention after being featured on the MBC show “I Live Alone” in 2020. However, it has faced legal issues since 2017, when inspectors flagged an unauthorized expansion of 10.8 square meters on the ground floor, which Yoo has not yet restored to its original condition.
Yoo, 38, became one of South Korea’s most recognizable actors after his debut in 2003, starring in a range of popular television dramas and films.
In September 2024, Yoo was sentenced to one year in prison for the illegal use of the anesthetic drug propofol.
“I am sorry for having caused concern to many people,” Yoo was quoted as saying in court by Yonhap.
