On Monday, South Korea’s National Tax Service (NTS) investigated Jun’s 2023 real estate transactions, requiring her to pay an additional 20 million won in tax, Znews reported, citing HeraldPOP.
The investigation focused on her purchase and sale of a five-story building in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. She bought the property in 2007 for 8.6 billion won (US$5.9 million) and sold it in 2021 for 23.5 billion won.
In September 2022, Jun and her husband purchased a penthouse in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, for 13 billion won.
Her management company stated that the investigation found no legal violations and that the additional tax payment stemmed from differences in accounting methods between Jun’s tax accountant and the NTS.
Jun, 43, is a renowned South Korean actress and model, best known for the 2001 hit film “My Sassy Girl” and the 2014 drama “My Love From the Star”.
She married South Korean businessman Choi Jun Hyuk in 2012, and they have two sons.
She is also recognized as one of the most prominent real estate investors in South Korea’s entertainment industry, reportedly owning multiple high-value buildings and apartments in Seoul worth tens of millions of U.S. dollars.
