A cabin crew member with Singapore-based budget airline Scoot siphoned off close to SGD40,000 (about US$31,000) from onboard food and beverage sales over nearly two years, court documents show.
Luqman Hakim Shahfawi, 31, who served as a complex leader, a senior cabin crew role overseeing inflight operations, pleaded guilty to one charge of criminal breach of trust involving more than SGD22,000, according to The Straits Times.
A second charge linked to the remaining amount of almost SGD18,000 will be considered during sentencing, which is set for Feb. 3.

Court proceedings revealed that Luqman’s actions began after he misplaced two bags containing cash collected from the in-flight sale of food and beverages.
Fearing discovery by his supervisors, he later chose to keep the cash after the initial loss went unnoticed.
As complex leader, Luqman was supposed to reconcile items sold with sales proceeds and record the information in Scoot’s system at the end of each flight. He was required to deliver the cash bag to the Scoot office and deposit it in a safe within 48 hours.
When Luqman lost two cash bags in 2023, he did not inform his supervisors. He then decided to keep the bags and their cash proceeds after all his flights because he was worried that his supervisors would discover the loss of the first two bags.
Between July 2023 and March 2025, he committed a total of 366 offenses. Investigations found that he used the money to repay debts owed to unlicensed moneylenders.
He then came clean to the company and was arrested in March 2025.
