Nguyen Hoang Giang has become the first Vietnamese to serve as vice president of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen.
Parent company Samsung Vietnam announced the appointment Monday. Giang began working at Samsung Electronics in 2010. Four years later he became director of its smartphone manufacturing division.

In 2015 he became director of the component manufacturing division and product color-technology division.
Samsung, South Korea’s largest conglomerate, is in electronics, finance, heavy industry, and technology.
In Vietnam, starting with a TV manufacturing plant in HCMC in 1995, it has grown into the largest foreign investor with investments exceeding US$23 billion.
In the first nine months of this year its four factories in Vietnam posted revenues of US$45.86 billion, up 5.5% year-on-year. Profits were up 4.5% at $2.97 billion.
One of the four ranks third globally with revenues of US$19.77 billion and profits unchanged at $1.36 billion.
