His first son, Do Quang Vinh, born in 1989, is currently the vice chairman of lender Saigon Hanoi Commercial Bank (SHB). His second son, Do Vinh Quang, born in 1995, is vice chairman of conglomerate T&T Group.
Both firms are chaired by Hien, 62, who founded the latter in 1993. T&T Group has interests in a wide range of industries, from finance and real estate to agriculture, energy, and logistics, according to its website.

Hien, who also owns the Hanoi Football Club, once said in an interview that his approach to raising children is guided by four key principles: health, good manners, a solid education, and independence.
“I do not force my children to follow my path or my vision. I do not want them to rely on their parents’ way of thinking,” he said. “I want them to grow naturally, based on their own mindset, interests, and strengths, so they can choose the right career for themselves.”
Despite his demanding workload, which leaves him little time for his wife and children, the tycoon remains attentive to his family. He makes the most of his free time by talking with his wife and children, sharing meals, watching football matches together, and occasionally taking family trips.
He and his wife share the same parenting approach, which avoids imposing on their children and instead provides guidance and direction to help them stay on the right path and develop in the best way possible.

Vinh, the older son, once said that his parents rarely praised him and his brother, believing it would keep them grounded and aware of where they are in life.
“That is why, every time I received a compliment or encouragement from them, it felt like a powerful mental boost that helped me overcome any difficulties,” he said.
Vinh earned a master’s degree in finance and management from the University of East Anglia in the UK.
He had five years of experience as the CEO of T&T’s U.S. operation before returning to Vietnam in 2020 to join SHB as deputy director of the bank’s retail division.
Hien did not rush to place his son in a senior management position as he wanted his career progression to be “slow but steady.”
Vinh was appointed the lender’s deputy CEO in October 2021, making him one of the youngest executives in Vietnam’s banking sector. He was elected to its board of directors the next year and promoted to vice chairman by April 2023.

The younger son, Quang, also began in several low-level roles at T&T Group and Hanoi FC before taking on leadership positions.
He graduated with a degree in finance and banking from City, University of London in the UK and is married to beauty queen Do My Linh, the 2016 Miss Vietnam.
After returning to Vietnam, he began working at T&T Group as a specialist for the investment department, where he was often tasked with errands like making photocopies of documents.
He played a key role in bringing Manchester City to Vietnam for a friendly match in 2015. He was appointed Hanoi FC’s chairman in 2020, making him the youngest chairman of a professional football club in the Vietnamese football league’s history.
He currently serves as T&T Group’s chairman and deputy CEO and also holds several key positions across its subsidiaries.
