Vietnam now has five billionaires with a total net worth of $12.4 billion after one dropped out this month.
Nguyen Dang Quang, chairman and founder of food producer Masan Group was no longer seen on Forbes’ Real-time Billionaires List as of Friday afternoon.
Quang was on the list by the end of last year with a net worth of $1 billion.
Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vietnam’s biggest private firm Vingroup, remained the richest man in Vietnam with a $4.1 billion net worth, a position he has held since 2010.
He was followed by Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of low-cost airline Vietjet, with $2.8 billion in wealth.
Tran Dinh Long, chairman of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group, came in third with a $2.4 billion net worth.
Ho Hung Anh, chairman of private lender Techcombank, was in the fourth place with a wealth of $1.8 billion.
Tran Ba Duong, chairman of automaker Thaco, rounded up the list with a $1.3 billion net worth.
So far this year most Vietnamese billionaires have seen their wealth unchanged or decreased as the stock market struggled to recover.
The benchmark VN-Index closed Friday, the last session before a nine-day holiday, at 1,265.05 points, down 0.14% from the beginning of the year.
