Speaking at the event, Tran Huu Linh, Director General of the Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, acknowledged the group’s continued expansion in Vietnam’s retail market. He said he expects more modern retail models similar to those introduced by Central Retail throughout the country, supporting the sustainable development of the domestic retail sector.
According to Linh, the opening of GO! Thang Long marks an important milestone and signals a new stage of development. He expressed hope that Central Retail will continue contributing to the modernization of the retail market and the promotion of Vietnamese-made goods, including in remote areas with limited commercial infrastructure.
“GO! Thang Long is among the largest shopping malls in Hanoi and Vietnam, and its new appearance reflects a focus on modernity and high-quality products and services,” Linh said.
Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, noted that the launch takes place as Hanoi is carrying out its “45-Day Campaign” designed to stimulate production, strengthen consumption, and support trade and service growth to help achieve the city’s 2025 GRDP target of over 8%. He said the reopening of Go! Thang Long contributes to expanding retail capacity during the peak year-end shopping season.
Representing Central Retail Vietnam, Olivier Langlet, Group CEO, said that after more than 20 years serving Hanoi residents, the former Big C Thang Long, long considered a familiar destination, has now been transformed into GO! Thang Long, offering a more modern and customer-focused experience. He added that the upgrade reflects the company’s long-term commitment to improving service quality and supporting Hanoi’s development.

With a total floor area of 35,180 sq.m across three commercial floors and an investment of VND650 billion (US$24.65 million), including over VND200 billion ($7.58 million) allocated for renovation, GO! Thang Long is developed under Central Retail’s multi-experience platform based on the “Shop – Eat – Learn – Play – Sustain” model. The mall features over 250 brands, including long-term partners and new tenants such as The Coffee House, Phuc Long, Highlands, Gogi, Kichi Kichi, Dookki, adidas, Li-Ning, GEK, PNJ, Canifa, GenViet, Langfarm, KFC, Kubo, Jump Arena, and Lotte Cinema. The facility is expected to create around 2,000 jobs, including positions for hypermarket staff, mall employees, and supplier partners.
To provide a more seamless and family-friendly experience, GO! Thang Long has enhanced several complimentary services, including a 3-hour free parking area, free locker service, a private Mother & Baby room, and accessible restrooms and pathways for people with disabilities.
To support small and medium-sized enterprises, the mall has designated an area on the second floor, within the GO! Hypermarket, to showcase and promote OCOP products from provinces nationwide, offering consumers convenient access to regional specialties ahead of the Tet holiday.
To mark the grand opening and as part of its community commitment, Central Retail Vietnam donated VND100 million (US$3,792) worth of essential goods to SOS Children’s Village Hanoi.
