Bamboo Airways has brought back its former chairman and promoted a deputy CEO as CEO as it continues to restructure.
The company announced Wednesday that Le Thai Sam, who is now the deputy chairman, will take over from chairman Luong Hoai Nam, who has quit for personal reasons.

Sam became the largest shareholder of the airline in 2022 and chairman from July 2023 to February 2024.
He has since been deputy chairman.
He has been active in managing the airline amid its drastic restructuring after being sold by earlier owner, property developer FLC.
Bamboo Airways has also named Truong Phuong Thanh, a 30-year veteran in the aviation industry, as the new CEO in place of Luong Hoai Nam, who also left for personal reasons.
Thanh has held various leadership roles in major enterprises.

He was with Bamboo Airways from 2019 to 2024 as deputy CEO, overseeing critical areas such as ground operations, which directly influence customer experience and the airline’s on-time performance metrics.
He quit but returned to the airline in June this year.
