Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS), a global manufacturer of peristaltic pumps and fluid path technologies, is set to participate in Propak Vietnam at Booth AN10. The company will present its range of peristaltic and sinusoidal pumps designed for use in the food and beverage, cosmetics, and biopharmaceutical industries. These solutions are engineered to improve operational efficiency, reduce energy and water usage, and minimize product waste through shear-sensitive pumping technology.
According to data from Research and Markets, Vietnam’s food and beverage industry experienced a growth rate of nearly 11.5% in 2023, reaching revenue of over US$23.6 billion. The sector is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 9.7%, reaching US$36.86 billion by 2027. The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade also forecasts that food retail sales will total approximately VND1,312 trillion (US$52 billion) by October 2024.
In the face of rising costs for raw materials, logistics, and energy, companies are seeking more efficient solutions. WMFTS’s Certa Sine pump, for example, is designed to consume up to 50% less power than traditional pumps when handling viscous fluids, offering a potential cost-saving advantage.
To further address space constraints common in food and beverage production settings, WMFTS has developed the Certa Compact – a more space-efficient model that reduces the pump’s physical footprint by 30% compared to conventional alternatives.
Jose Longo, Regional General Manager of ANZSEAI at WMFTS, emphasized the importance of customized solutions that align with industry-specific process requirements. He noted that identifying the most energy-efficient pump involves evaluating the full process system – including flow rate, pressure needs, piping configuration, and fluid characteristics – rather than focusing solely on purchase price.
“As an example, our Watson-Marlow 500 and 600 series pumps are well-suited for precise additive dosing in bioreactor systems,” Longo said. “Our goal is to serve as an end-to-end solution provider.”
Shifting consumer trends have also increased demand for plant-based products and sports nutrition, particularly in Vietnam. According to Innova Market Insights, 25% of Vietnamese consumers purchase meat substitutes, exceeding the global average of 20%.
Faith Tang, APAC Regional Marketing Manager at WMFTS, highlighted the company’s role in supporting manufacturers in this growing segment.
“Our pump solutions are designed to handle diverse product types efficiently, helping manufacturers improve processing times and reduce operational costs,” Tang said.
Certa Sine pumps, in particular, are noted for their gentle handling capabilities, which help preserve the structural integrity of alternative proteins during transfer processes.
“By delivering scalable and reliable pump systems, we help manufacturers expand production and align with their global growth goals,” she added.

WMFTS also offers the Bredel CIP 40 and CIP 50 pumps, which are suitable for food production and applications requiring regular clean-in-place (CIP) procedures. These models offer hygienic, low-shear pumping solutions designed for sanitary processes.
The company’s technologies aim to maintain process stability and product quality, with pumps delivering accuracy of up to 0.5%. The closed fluid path design helps prevent contamination during sensitive stages such as transfer, filling, and filtration. WMFTS’s Aflex FaBLINE hose – lined with polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) – also meets current food hygiene standards as a flexible, food-grade solution.
WMFTS encourages conducting a thorough installation analysis before selecting pump equipment to ensure long-term sustainability and efficiency. As part of its service approach, the company works closely with clients from the initial design phase through to implementation and ongoing support.
As operational requirements evolve, such as scaling production or processing products with different viscosities, WMFTS engineers are available to advise on optimal pump solutions that meet changing business needs.
