Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.04% to 1,249.55 points Monday.
The index closed 0.44 points higher after gaining 6.75 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 3% to VND9.995 trillion (US$394.7 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 13 tickers gained.
HDB of lender HDBank went up 2.2%, MBB of lender MB rose 1.6%, and TPB of private lender TPBank increased by 1.5%.
Fourteen blue chips fell. POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation closed 1.3% lower, VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank slipped 0.9%, and MSN of conglomerate Masan Group dropped 0.6%.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND247 billion, mainly selling VCB and HDB.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.36%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.34%.
