Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fell 1.14% to 1,231.89 points Thursday, lowest since Aug. 15.
The index closed 14.15 points lower after gaining 1.22 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 5% to VND16.13 trillion (US$635 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 25 tickers fell and 5 tickers gained.
SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation dropped 2.9%, followed by HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group with a 2.8% decline.
STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank decreased by 2.7% and TPB of private TPBank closed 2.5% lower.
Five blue chips gained, led by BCM of Becamex Investment and Industrial Development, up 1%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND941 billion, mainly selling MSB of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Bank and MBB of lender MB.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 1.06%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.56%.
