Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fell 0.44% to 1,326.09 points Wednesday.
The index closed 5.83 points lower after gaining 1.60 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 16% to VND18.789 trillion (US$734.5 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 19 tickers fell.
FPT of tech giant FPT Corporation went down 2.8%, TPB of private TPBank slipped 2.0%, and LPB of Fortune Vietnam Bank saw a 1.6% drop.
Seven blue chips gained. HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group was up 1.3%, VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail rose 0.8%, and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World closed 0.5% higher.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND513 billion, mainly selling FPT and TPB.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 1.32%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.32%.
