Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index Tuesday closed at 1,608.22 points, a new historic peak, rising 0.71% from Monday.
The index closed 11.4 points higher after rising 11.9 points in the previous session.
This was its seventh gaining session in a row.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, on which the index is based, went up 0.3% to VND45.43 trillion (US$1.73 billion).
The VN30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 19 tickers rising.
LPB of Fortune Vietnam Bank led with a 6.3% gain, followed by HDB of HDBank, up 3.6%.
BID of state-owned lender BIDV went up 3.2% and VJC of budget airline Vietjet closed 2.4% higher.
Nine blue chips fell. SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation and VIB of Vietnam International Commercial Bank both closed 2% lower.
Foreign investors were net sellers for the fourth straight session to the tune of VND688 billion.
They mostly sold FPT of tech giant FPT Corporation, VHM of property giant Vinhomes and SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, was unchanged, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market closed 0.05% lower.
