VinSpeed needs to begin construction of the Hanoi–Ha Long high-speed railroad by early March, Quang Ninh Province Party Secretary Quang Minh Cuong has said.
This vital infrastructure project would help boost connectivity between the province, Hai Phong City and the capital, he said at a meeting Thursday.

He instructed local government agencies to complete administrative procedures for the work, which is set to cost VND138.93 trillion (US$5.3 billion).
Construction will take 24 months, and VinSpeed plans to test run it by 2027-end and start commercial operations in early-2028.
The 120-kilometer rail will start at the Vietnam Exhibition Center in Hanoi and run until Ha Long Station, with trains running at a speed of up to 350 kilometers per hour.
There will be four trains with four cars each until 2035, increasing to eight by 2050. They will shuttle up and down for 18 hours a day at a 60-minute interval in the beginning, and half that from 2030.
VinSpeed was founded by Vietnam’s richest man, Pham Nhat Vuong, for railroad construction and the manufacture of rolling stock. He personally holds a 51% stake in the company.
