Citing KBizoom, Thanh Nien Newspaper reported that sources within Hong Kong’s entertainment industry have confirmed that Patrick Tse may have decided to bequeath up to 90% of his wealth to Cheung, with the remaining 10% going to his biological children.
This news has quickly gained attention due to the strong relationship between Cheung and her former in-laws, despite her divorce from Nicholas Tse in 2011, five years after they married in 2006. Many believe the actress’ character—defined by her role as a devoted mother and respectful daughter-in-law—has contributed to this decision.
Patrick Tse has often expressed his affection for Cheung. In a reality TV appearance, he referred to her as “the best daughter-in-law I have ever had,” acknowledging her role in bringing two wonderful grandchildren into the family and maintaining strong family ties even after the divorce.
Nicholas Tse, who shares two sons with Cheung—Lucas, 18, and Quintus, 15—has also frequently praised his ex-wife, particularly for her role as their children’s mother. In a past interview, he remarked: “Many couples who divorce often badmouth each other in front of their children, but Cecilia has never done that.”
“My children love their mother and are still close to me,” he continued. “I know she has always said good things about me, even when I wasn’t around. She’s a good person and an amazing mother.”
At a concert marking his 20th anniversary in the entertainment industry, Nicholas Tse also publicly thanked Cheung for teaching their children forgiveness—a sentiment that moved many fans. After the concert, it was revealed that Cheung had encouraged their children to attend and support their father.
Cheung, 45, first rose to fame in 1998 with a television commercial for lemon tea, which caught the attention of Hong Kong filmmaker Stephen Chow. She made her film debut in Chow’s 1999 hit “King of Comedy,” where she played a call girl. The film became the highest-grossing local production of the year, propelling Cheung to stardom.
Nicholas Tse, 45, entered the entertainment industry in 1996 as a singer and made his acting debut two years later.
His father Patrick Tse, 89, is a renowned veteran actor known for his roles in TVB dramas like “The Romantic Swordsman,” “The Legend of the Condor Heroes,” “Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain,” and “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils.”
While Cheung and Nicholas Tse’s children live with her, they maintain a strong relationship with their father. Following Nicholas Tse’s rekindled romance with his ex-girlfriend, Hong Kong singer Faye Wong, the family bond remains intact.
