A planned base salary hike of 8% for state employees will put the monthly wages of military officers at VND8-26.3 million (US$304–997).
The country plans to raise the base salary by 8% from the current VND2.34 million per month to around VND2.53 million per month starting July 1, 2026.

The salaries of officials, civil servants, public employees, and the armed forces will all increase.
For a person in the rank of a general, it will rise from VND24.3 million to VND26.3 million.
A corporal’s income will increase from VND7.5 million to VND8 million.
For the group of specialized soldiers and technical specialists in cryptography, the salary is set to range between VND8 million and VND19.5 million.
For defense workers, the highest salary is projected at about VND16.8 million and the lowest at around VND7.3 million.
