A second-hand watch store at Singapore’s Far East Plaza shopping center has filed a police report after a man allegedly ran off with a Rolex watch worth over S$40,000 (US$31,000).
CCTV footage later shared on TikTok by a user who claimed to own a nearby store in the same mall shows the man entering the HJ Luxury shop at about 3:24 p.m. last Thursday after looking through the window display, per Mothership.
He gestured toward a watch he wanted to see, and a salesperson took it out for him. After a brief look, he returned it and the employee headed to the backroom.
The salesperson then came back and helped him try on the watch. As soon as she let go of his wrist, he quickly dashed out of the store.

The employee, surnamed Liu, said the piece was a Rolex GMT Master II worth over S$40,000, according to AsiaOne.
She and her brother-in-law, who owns the business, ran after the man but eventually lost sight of him.
The owner, surnamed Chen, later combed through the car park in search of the man but came up empty-handed.
Responding to media inquiries, police confirmed that a report had been filed and said investigations are ongoing.
This was not the first time the store had fallen victim to theft.
Back in 2019, a man wearing a counterfeit Rolex visited the store and stole two genuine diamond-studded Rolex watches worth around S$150,000, as reported by The Straits Times.
