Malaysia’s King, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, has successfully undergone conservative treatment for musculoskeletal pain abroad, the palace Istana Negara announced.
The King is expected to return to Malaysia on Feb. 21.
Sultan Ibrahim and his wife, Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah, expressed gratitude to Malaysians for their prayers and well-wishes.
“Sultan Ibrahim, together with Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all Malaysians who have performed special prayers and continuously prayed for His Majesty’s health,” the palace said, as quoted by Malay Mail.
The palace attributed the King’s condition to intensive military training and an active lifestyle, particularly his passion for polo in his youth, The Star reported.

On Feb. 7, Istana Negara said Sultan Ibrahim had traveled abroad for medical treatment, accompanied by his sons.
According to the Bangkok Post, Sultan Ibrahim, 66, head of the Johor royal family, ascended the throne last year under Malaysia’s unique constitutional monarchy, where nine hereditary rulers take turns as king.
Sultan Ibrahim is considered one of Malaysia’s wealthiest figures. Bloomberg estimates the Johor royals’ wealth at around $5.7 billion. His TikTok and Facebook accounts showcase his passion for motorbikes and luxury cars, regularly featuring photos and videos of his extensive collection.
