The seller, Damiral Imran, shared his extensive collection on Facebook, showcasing stacks of boxed sets featuring Pikachu and other limited-edition Pokémon cards. The value of the collection is estimated to exceed RM2 million, according to Shiny, a card tracker app that provides real-time market valuations, Malaysia’s news site Says reported.
Damiral claims to have received offers as high as RM1.68 million. He is also offering a RM50,000 commission to anyone who finds a buyer, along with a bonus card worth over RM50,000 for the successful purchaser, according to Daily Express.
When asked how much he spent on the collection, Damiral said it was around RM1.62 million. Some social media users praised the rare cards, calling the collection “king’s level,” while another noted that some rare cards in his collection “are very expensive now, like buying gold.” However, others warned that it could be a risky investment, the South China Morning Post reported.
Pokémon cards, first introduced in Japan in 1996, have become a global collectible phenomenon, with certain rare editions fetching six-figure sums at international auctions. The hobby has seen a resurgence in recent years, fueled by celebrity collectors and a boom in online trading during the pandemic. Even the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire, Lucy Guo, revealed in a recent Business Insider interview that she began selling Pokémon cards at a young age to make money.
For Damiral, his collection is more than just financial value. “This isn’t just cards, it’s history, rarity, and legacy in one vault,” he wrote, adding that he hopes to find an investor or collector who will truly appreciate its worth.
