The mansion in the suburb of Chicago, the U.S., known as the setting of the 1990 movie “Home Alone” has been sold for US$5.5 million.
The property, covering 9,126 square feet (847.8 square meters) at 671 Lincoln Avenue in the Winnetka residential suburb, sold for more than its asking price of $5.25 million, as reported by Bloomberg.
It was put up for sale last May by its owners, Trisha and Tim Johnson, who received multiple offers for the property.
The Johnsons previously bought the property in 2012 for $1.59 million and renovated it in 2018.
It gained fame for appearing in the 1990 movie “Home Alone,” in which an eight-year-old boy is accidentally left behind when his family travels to Europe for Christmas, forcing him to protect the house from two clumsy burglars.
The home boasts six bathrooms, four fireplaces, an iconic staircase from the film, and a family room with 10-foot coffered ceilings, French doors, and a well-furnished kitchen, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Additional highlights include a second family room, two laundry rooms, and a primary bedroom suite featuring a walk-in closet and a marble bathroom with double sinks.
It also has a garage with space for three cars and a basement level with an indoor sports court, a movie theater and a wet bar.
