Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has reportedly bought a $35 million estate in Austin, Texas, to accommodate his large family, which includes three former partners and at least 11 children.
According to sources cited by the New York Times, the purchase includes two adjoining properties: a 14,400-square-foot Tuscan-style mansion and a 6-bedroom home behind it. To ensure privacy, Musk had the sellers sign multiple nondisclosure agreements and paid up to 70% above market value.
Musk intends for two of the mothers of his children, Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis and singer Grimes, to live on the estate. This arrangement is intended to allow better management of time with his younger children and foster connections between them.
While he is open to visits from his first wife, Justine Musk, 52, and their adult children, they have not been a priority in the living plans. However, there is said to be space for them if they wish to visit.

Zilis, 38, has already moved into one of the properties with her twins. Grimes, legally known as Claire Boucher and now 36, has not yet relocated due to a custody battle with Musk over their three children, which began in October 2023. Attempts by Page Six to get comments from the mothers of Musk’s children were unsuccessful.
Musk, 53, holds a net worth of $268.8 billion as of Oct. 26, according to Forbes. The Tesla CEO has long been vocal about the need for higher birth rates to combat global population decline. Musk shares 2-year-old twins with Zilis and reportedly welcomed another child earlier this year.
With Grimes, he has three children. He and his first wife, Justine, share five children, though they suffered the loss of a baby due to sudden infant death syndrome in 2002.
