The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong as it soared among peers on the global market Thursday.
Vietcombank sold the dollar 0.11% higher at VND25,497.
The State Bank of Vietnam hiked its reference rate by 0.10% to VND24,283.
The greenback jumped 90.56% to VND25,845 on the black market.
It has risen 4.32% against the dong since the beginning of the year.
Globally the dollar hung just off a four-month high on Thursday as the market continued to digest Republican Donald Trump’s win in the U.S. presidential election, while investors eyed several central bank decisions that will be topped off by the Federal Reserve, Reuters reported.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, edged down 0.05% to 105.06 after surging to its highest since July 3 at 105.44 in the previous session.
The yen was up 0.09% at 154.5 per dollar, touching 154.715 earlier in the session, its lowest against the greenback since July 30.
