Vietnam exported 154,635 tons of coffee worth US$799.5 million in January, according to the Vietnam Coffee-Cocoa Association.
Of this total, green coffee exports amounted to 137,568 tons, generating $694.9 million, marking a 38.2% decline in volume but an 8.8% increase in value from the same period last year. Processed coffee shipments reached 17,067 tons, or $104.6 million.
Last month, foreign direct investment enterprises accounted for 21.8% of Vietnam’s green coffee export volume and 22.4% of value.
In 2024, Vietnam exported 1.35 million tons of coffee for a record-high $5.62 billion in revenue as the average export price of coffee reached an all-time high of $4,178 per ton.
Meanwhile, domestic raw coffee prices peaked at VND131,000 (US$5.2) per kilogram, yielding a net profit of over VND90,000 per kilogram for farmers, after deducting costs.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has set a coffee production target of 1.98 million tons for this year, slightly higher than last year’s goal.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture forecasts that global coffee consumption for the 2024–25 crop season will rise by 5.1 million bags to 168.1 million bags.
Vietnam’s coffee exports are projected to increase by 1.8 million bags to 24.4 million bags, supported by improved supply.
