Retailer Aeon Mall Vietnam will begin construction of a VND5.14 trillion (US$202 million) mall in the northern tourist town of Ha Long early in December.
The five-story structure will be set on a 91-square-meter lot and completed by April-end. The Japanese retailer so far has seven malls in Vietnam with combined floor space of 462,000 sq.m.
It recently received approval to build a VND5.4 trillion mall in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. Construction of its first mall in the Mekong Delta began in Long An Province in May this year.
Other malls are planned for Thanh Hoa and Da Nang cities in central Vietnam.
Vietnam accounts for nearly 40% of Aeon Mall’s overseas profits. The retailer has invested $1.5 billion in Vietnam over the last 10 years.
