A flight booking agency in HCMC said many airlines have been hiking fares and prices of others such as checked baggage, seat selection, and in-flight meals, amid rising fuel costs.
“Customers used to only look at ticket prices but are now more conscious of baggage fees when planning their travel costs.
“For families or those traveling for long periods, baggage charges can add millions of dong to each trip.”
A report by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said prices of Jet A1 aviation fuel have remained high in Asia, at times reaching US$214-216, due to the Middle East tensions.
Fuel price fluctuations have been weighing on airlines’ operating costs and airfares in recent years, the agency added.
